YOUR FAILURES SHOULD NEVER DEFINE YOU

I was thinking this evening so I decided to share my thoughts with you.
It was 2010 when I went to the cyber cafe to check my NECO GCE result……
I was filled with hope considering my two previous Olevel results had issue with one important subject……. Failed English & Biology respectively in each of the results…….
I was so hopeful I would make it this time because I actually burnt “night candles” just to come out in flying colors……..
My parents & I were living at Abeokuta at that time……..
I walked into the cafe & bought time to check my result…..
Lo and behold I had 6F & 2Cs in Mathematics & English…….
I was perplexed and confused……
Most of my secondary school mates were already in their first year in the university and here I am still battling to make my SSCE…..
I lost my admission into UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN at that time……
I wept secretly in my room for days……

I understood what it felt when you’re faced with failures and no one was willing to hear your excuses……..
I knew what it meant to hate yourself for not living up to the expectations of people around you……..
That was the last time I experienced academic failure……..
From struggling with SSCE, five years later I graduated with a FIRST CLASS Honors in the University.
You won’t appreciate your success in life if you haven’t had your share of failure……..
Don’t give up on your self and your future because of today’s failures……… Tomorrow holds something better for you.
Just keep pushing…….
I remember having a conversation with an old friend few days ago and he shared his testimony with me…….
He was jobless for 5 years after graduating from the university…….
Despite studying Chemical Engineering & graduating with a second class (upper division), he still struggled with what everyone young graduate in Nigeria is experiencing……
He told me how he had to settle for a teaching Job 2 years ago here in Lagos where he was been paid 60K……..
He was practically faced with low self esteem because he knew there is more in him and he feels he can do better in this life……..
During the COVID-19 lockdown he was invited for an online interview in one of the growing Oil & Gas firm here in Lagos……
Weeks later, he got his employment letter with a juicy remuneration……..
Don’t give up on yourself yet…….
I know there are pressure from friends and family…..
I know the society & government is not even helping in any way…..
But, YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO GIVE UP ON YOURSELF
Just keep pushing…….
BETTER DAYS ARE COMING…..
Stay inspired
